Close Park

Close Park is a public park of around 11.19 hectares. It is located approximately 3 miles from Bury town centre and 1 mile from Radcliffe town centre. The parkland was donated by the Bealey family and first opened as a public park in 1925.

The entrance area and frontage to the park has undergone major refurbishment in recent years to increase the overall viability of not only Close Park but also St Mary's Parish Church. Now, the whole area has a very attractive and welcoming aspect. In addition to Council funding the park has also benefited from funding through the ODPM's Livability fund as part of the Government's drive to create 'cleaner, safer, greener' communities.

Location: Dumers Lane, Radcliffe

Close Park Gardening Club

Close Park gardening club carries out a range of jobs and aims to give people without their own garden the opportunity to garden in their local park within a friendly and sociable atmosphere. Club members will help with landscaping ideas and planting, learn about gardening on a large scale and over a period of time gain satisfaction from a sense of ownership of what has been achieved.

No previous gardening knowledge is required, just a willingness to learn and enjoy being outdoors whilst creating something for all to enjoy. Everyone is welcome. Please wear suitable clothing. All equipment will be provided.

If you need more information please phone the ranger on: 0161 724 8173.
